American Heritage Dictionary: 1. To acquire a stake or interest in: bought into a risky real estate venture.2. (Informal) To believe in, especially wholeheartedly or uncritically: couldn't buy into that brand of conservatism.Мода на него стала повальной в 1990-е годы на волне финансово-биржевой мании (everyone was buying something or into something). Казалось бы, не совсем понятно, какая разница между buy into и более простым buy (как в выражении I don’t buy this – Я этому /в это не верю). Nor should the international community buy into Pyongyang’s argument that its nuclear commitments are a bilateral issue. Did everybody buy into it?

19 buy into
•• * Отсутствующее во многих словарях, в частности в ABBYY Lingvo, выражение to buy into something хорошо описано в American Heritage Dictionary: 1. To acquire a stake or interest in: bought into a risky real estate venture. 2. ( Informal) To believe in, especially wholeheartedly or uncritically: couldn’t buy into that brand of conservatism.
•• Мода на него стала повальной в 1990-е годы на волне финансово-биржевой мании (тогда действительно everyone was buying something or into something). Казалось бы, не совсем понятно, какая разница между buy into и более простым buy (как в выражении I don’t buy this – Я этому/ в это не верю). International Herald Tribune:
•• Nor should the international community buy into Pyongyang’s argument that its nuclear commitments are a bilateral issue.
Did everybody buy into this?
